A Safe Haven on the Journey to Freedom

Freedom's Harbor is a Christ-centered emergency stabilization home for women who are fleeing from a human trafficking situation.

Our Story

A Vision of Hope.

Freedom's Harbor is a ministry located in central Alabama that is designed as a Christ-centered transitional home for women who have escaped human trafficking situations. At this safe haven, healing is experienced through God's unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power. The facility serves as a crucial first step in the stabilization process, offering an environment where distractions are minimized and the grace of God is demonstrated through simple, loving care. This allows residents to process their past and discover hope for their future.

At Freedom's Harbor, a small house accommodating only a few women at a time, specialized trauma care, medical assessments, and nourishing meals are provided. The good news of Jesus's redemption is shared when residents are ready to receive it. The home offers a space for women to spend their first weeks of freedom, allowing them to gradually adjust before transitioning to long-term programs. Through this approach, Freedom's Harbor aims to create a supportive atmosphere where women can begin their journey towards healing and reintegration into society.

Freedom's Finds

Every purchase makes a difference.

Freedom's Finds, a thrift store associated with Freedom's Harbor, serves as a valuable resource for the ministry. Donations of gently used household items, including furniture, kitchenware, and home decor, are gratefully accepted during business hours. These contributions play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission and are deeply appreciated by those involved in the ministry.

The store's operations are largely supported by a dedicated community of volunteers. These individuals contribute their time and effort to sort through donations, arrange displays, and assist customers, creating a welcoming environment for shoppers. Potential volunteers are encouraged to reach out to discuss opportunities for involvement, as the store is always open to welcoming new members who might be a good fit for their team.

A Survivors Story

An Unseen Journey Revealed.

Human trafficking often manifests in ways that differ from its portrayal in popular media. While extreme cases do exist, the reality is that trafficking can occur on a much smaller scale, often unnoticed in everyday environments. This insidious practice is not confined to large urban areas or specific regions; it can take root in smaller communities, towns, and neighborhoods, including places that might be familiar to many.

The drivers of human trafficking, such as exploitation and illicit desires, are not limited by population size or location. This means that even areas considered safe or idyllic are not immune to such activities. Trafficking can happen in seemingly ordinary settings, potentially affecting communities where individuals have spent their formative years. This underscores the importance of awareness and vigilance in all types of environments, regardless of their size or perceived safety.
